A dog stole the show at the Winter Olympics, and one of Tesero’s enthusiastic but uncredited companions joined the athletes in the women’s cross-country team event.

The furry friend, presumed to be a husky but looks a lot like a wolf, wandered onto the stadium pitch during the game, causing the crowd to howl.

On the final straight, the dog found its way through the snow, briefly distracted by trackside cameras, before trying to catch up to two competitors struggling to cross the line.

He then crossed the finish line behind Croatian Tena Hadzic to loud cheers, greeting the weary skiers by sniffing out his rivals.

Officials eventually caught the tail-wagging interloper, but not before timekeepers preparing for an end-of-race photo session captured a photo of the dog crossing the finish line.

Fortunately, this was only a qualifying event and not a medal battle, which meant competitors and officials could laugh off the incident rather than worry about its impact on the final rankings.
