A new chicken restaurant will open in the Conway area this spring, taking over the former location of a local antique store.
Slim Chickens, a national chain serving gourmet chicken tenders and sweet jar desserts, plans to open in late spring at 2199 Church Street, the former location of Roadrunner Antiques. The 100-year-old antique store building has been demolished to make way for a chicken restaurant and firehouse, The Sun-News previously reported.
Jackie Lobdell, vice president of franchise development for the Slim Chickens chain, said the store plans to open the new location in late May or June.

The store will be the second in the area, with the chain opening a Myrtle Beach location at 135 Sapwood Road in October 2024.
The chain has dozens of stores across the country, seven of which are open in South Carolina, including several in the Columbia area. In a few months, their artisan bread buttermilk tender will be available to more area residents.
