Charlton Athletic have signed defender Jayden Feverre on loan from Stockport County until the end of the season and signed goalkeeper Tiernan Brooks on a permanent deal from Gateshead.

The 22-year-old Favriel can play as either a full-back or a winger, fitting into manager Nathan Jones’s favored formation of three centre-backs and two full-backs.

In the first half of the season, he made 28 appearances in all competitions for Stockport, scoring two goals.

The signing comes on the same day as Charlton’s former Stockport striker Tanto Olafei also returns to Edgeley Park on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Favriel began his career at West Ham United before moving to Colchester United in 2022, where he was named the club’s Young Player of the Year in his second season.

Favriel told Charlton’s website: “The manager wants me to go out there and play, bring the ball up, get people excited and be myself and I’m excited because I’ve got the chance to play in the Championship.”

Meanwhile, 23-year-old Brooks joins for an undisclosed fee and has agreed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the club’s option to extend for a further year.

The former Republic of Ireland U-21 international began his career at Notts County and, after several loan spells, moved to Gateshead in 2024, where he established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.

Brooks replaces outgoing back-up goalkeeper Ashley Maynard-Brewer (who has moved to Dundee United permanently) and is likely to compete with Will Mannion for the second spot behind regular first-choice Thomas Kaminski.

Brooks told the club’s website: “I’m so excited the game is finally over and I really can’t wait to get going – I came to the Valley when I was younger to watch Charlton play Sheffield Wednesday and it’s a beautiful stadium.”

The arrivals of Favriel and Brooks take Charlton’s acquisitions to five this month, following the signings of Harry Clark, Lyndon Dykes and Luke Chambers.
