How much snow will Cincinnati get? Maps show predicted totals

A major winter storm is expected to roll through Greater Cincinnati this weekend, bringing snow, sleet, ice and dangerously low temperatures.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a winter storm warning for southwestern Ohio, northern Kentucky and southeastern Indiana, which will be in effect from 10 a.m. Saturday, January 24, to noon Monday, January 26.

“The first round of snowfall Saturday night will be followed by a second, stronger and more impactful round of winter snowfall on Sunday morning,” the National Weather Service wrote. “Given the cooler temperatures during and after the precipitation, this round of winter weather is expected to have a significant impact on travel in the area that will last at least through Monday.”

But how many inches of snow can Greater Cincinnati expect? Here’s what we know.

Greater Cincinnati snowfall totals expected

total snow cover 8 to 12 inches is possible. Up to an inch of ice is also possible in northern Kentucky.

The core of Greater Cincinnati, which includes Hamilton County and nearby Northern Kentucky, has an 88 percent chance of seeing at least 8 inches of snow, according to the weather service. The odds are even higher in areas around Walton, at 92%.

The heaviest rainfall is expected late Saturday into midday Sunday. Light snow is expected to begin Saturday afternoon. Snowfall will be highest near Interstate 71 and in the Southeast.
