“The Cleaning Lady” hairstylist Danielle Vigil is clarifying comments she made following Timothy Busfield’s arrest on child sex abuse charges.

Vigil said her previous comments were “misinterpreted,” saying she saw Bousfield kissing two children on the forehead in a trailer on set and stressing that she never intended to accuse anyone or speculate about the case.

in a statement US WeeklyVigil explained that she was contacted by a detective regarding a child-related investigation that caused her “severe emotional distress” due to her personal experience, as her daughter was brutally murdered several years ago.

Vigil said she initially felt “blindsided and terrified” that the investigation might involve her own children or grandchildren.

“During the call, I expressed my discomfort with continuing the conversation,” she wrote. “However, because of my personal experience with my daughter’s unsolved murder and my belief that silence and lack of cooperation can sometimes prevent justice, I ultimately chose to answer questions about my personal observations.”

Vigil noted that she had no idea the call was being recorded, saying: “Had I known that my words were being recorded or that the detective would be using the conversation to fit his narrative, I would have chosen my words more carefully and made sure that my statements were fully contextual.”

She added that she did not expect her comments to be used as part of official testimony against Bousfield.

Vigil expressed frustration with how her remarks were reported, saying parts of her conversation were “selectively presented in a way that did not reflect the full context” and misrepresented her intent.

Prosecutors asked that Bousfield remain detained until trial, saying he “poses an ongoing serious risk to children and the community.”

In pretrial documents, the Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office cited what they described as a pattern of “sexual misconduct, abuse of power and solicitation” to justify continuing to detain him.

In response, Busfield’s legal team argued in a 237-page court filing that the boy’s mother was seeking revenge against the director when her children were replaced during filming.

They also noted that Busfield had successfully completed an independently administered polygraph test and that a professional psychosexual evaluation determined that he “does not appear to be sexually attracted to prepubescent or adolescent males or females.”
