Brian Flores’ head coaching career ended amid controversy, and the following phase of his post-head coaching career is unique compared to others in league history. However, since becoming the defensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings, he has reminded everyone of his abilities as a coach.

Still, he remains a name who gets interviewed occasionally but has yet to become a finalist for any position. However, he’s gaining momentum again this recruiting cycle, with one team showing interest so far in the Baltimore Ravens and more surely to come.

The matter regarding Flores and the Vikings needs to be dealt with quickly by both parties. During his time with the Vikings, he has become one of the best defensive minds in the league. That’s why ESPN’s Kevin Seifert made figuring out the situation one of the team’s key offseason priorities.

He wrote, “Address the situation with Brian Flores. He has been one of the best defensive coordinators in the NFL during his three seasons in Minnesota, but his contract is expiring and even if he doesn’t get the head coaching job, he will have a chance to consider other options. Replacing him with a player who performs equally well will be a challenge.”

There aren’t many coaches who could replace Flores as defensive coordinator, but some are already on the market after the season. Someone like Jonathan Gannon could be a replacement and give the defense some stability, but if they lose him, the aggressiveness of Flores’ scheme is irreplaceable.
