Arizona still has a long way to go in competing with schools like USC for top high school recruiting. That could change one day, but for now the Wildcats are happy to take some of those guys out of the portal.
UA has secured commitment from former USC linebacker matetagoia four-star prospect in the 2025 class. He has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Tagoa’i is ranked as the No. 102 player in the class of 2025 by 247Sports, as well as the No. 6 and No. 8 prospects in the nation at linebacker. The San Clemente, Calif., native chose the Trojans over Texas, Utah and Washington State.
Tagoy appeared in nine games as a true freshman, playing 93 snaps on defense as a rusher, guard or corner, including 35 tackles.
Tagoa’i is the third linebacker UA has acquired from the portal and the second to transfer from USC. Wildcats also signed wide receiver DJ Jordanhimself a four-star recruit in the 2024 class.
The UA has 15 known NCAA transfer commitments, seven of which are on defense. There are 19 players on the 2025 roster in the portal.
