Matt Ryan is expected to return to the Falcons, and Falcons president of football and team owner Arthur Blank discussed the team’s interest in their long-term quarterback during a press conference on Thursday.
After firing head coach Raheem Morris and general manager Terry Fontenot last weekend, Blank announced the team would hire a president of football. The final recruiters will oversee new hires at those locations, a role Blank said he views as “holding them accountable and providing guidance.”

Blank pointed to the team’s rich history while answering why he thinks Ryan is a good fit for the job.
“His emotional intelligence and IQ in football very highBlank said, via Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com. “I have known Matt and his family since 2008 and he is an outstanding individual, a great community leader and someone we certainly want to consider for this position.”
Atlanta’s plan is for the president of football to be responsible for the search for a new coach and general manager, so they could announce who will fill the position soon.
