Neutron is Rocket Lab Corporation’s (NASDAQ: RKLB) largest carbon composite rocket, with a payload capacity of up to 13,000 kilograms. The rocket is scheduled to fly for the first time in 2026 and is one of the fastest growing commercial rockets. The Hungry Hippo tethered fairing is Neutron’s fairing design that remains attached to the rocket’s first stage throughout launch and landing, allowing it to be reused.
Management noted that qualification testing included multiple tests, including but not limited to withstanding 275,000 pounds of force, rapidly opening and closing the half-fairing in 1.5 seconds, and integrating flight systems (such as software and control hardware) under real-world conditions. That said, Rocket Lab (NASDAQ: RKLB ) is now waiting for the Hungry Hippo to arrive in Virginia, where the rocket will be assembled and undergo final pre-launch testing.
Wall Street remains bullish on the stock, with analysts setting an average 12-month price target of $65, representing a 26% upside from current levels. On Nov. 25, Needham’s Ryan Koontz reiterated a buy rating and $63 price target on the stock. In addition, earlier on November 19, Ronald Epstein of BofA Securities also reiterated his buy rating on the stock and raised the target price from $50 to $60.
