The Olympic gold medalist told a news conference that she had gained 12 pounds before competing in the World Cup and was “excited” to see her figure.
On December 10, Vaughan told the media: “Physically, I’m probably in the best shape I’ve ever been. And I’m not physically injured, so that’s the best part.”
“My goal is to get stronger this summer,” she continued. “I was leaner than I wanted to be last season. I didn’t really have any time to prepare, so I didn’t have time to gain weight back. I’m still a lot lighter than when I was playing at my peak.”
The alpine skier said she has worked hard this summer to achieve her goal of competing in the 2026 Winter Olympics. Vonn undergoes intense training and notes that it is the most “disciplined” diet she has ever followed.

“I gained about 12 pounds this summer, which I’m excited about,” she said. “It takes a lot of hard work. I’m probably the most disciplined I’ve ever been with my diet and the whole summer. I do everything I can to prepare my body.”
While preparing for the 2026 Winter Olympics, she is currently competing in the World Cup in St. Moritz, Switzerland. She has two downhill races this weekend. Vaughn is returning from right knee surgery nearly six years ago.
She plans to compete in the downhill, super-G and all-around events at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Vonn is a three-time Olympic champion, winning one gold medal (downhill, 2010) and two bronze medals (2010 super-G, 2018 downhill). She is one of the most decorated alpine skiers and the only American woman to win an Olympic downhill gold medal.
