If you’ve been stocking up on snacks or pantry staples lately, it’s time to do a serious inventory check.
There have been a number of major recalls across the country over the past month, affecting everything from frozen mashed potatoes to baby food.
Some of these products present high-risk safety hazards, such as foreign objects, bacterial contamination, and even serious allergen risks.
Here is a summary of the nine recalls issued last month:
Tate Tot Recall
Approximately 650,000 pounds of frozen Sonic Tots and Ore-Ida tater tots sold nationwide have been recalled because the products may contain foreign plastic materials.
They are sold in 28 states and are distributed primarily to food service facilities such as restaurants and institutional kitchens, rather than directly to retail grocers.
The FDA classified the recall as a Class II action, which means consuming the affected products may cause temporary or medically reversible health effects, but serious harm is unlikely.

wholesale salmon
Slade Gorton & Co., Inc. is recalling large quantities of Wellesley Farms farm-raised Atlantic salmon sold in 2-pound bags at BJ’s Wholesale Club due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The recalled products were sold at BJ’s Wholesale Club stores in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Virginia from January 31 to February 7, 2026.
Consumers are urged to throw away the product as soon as possible or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
Popular cake mix recall upgraded to highest risk
A widely used cake mix has been recalled to the highest risk level after regulators found it contained one of nine major allergens – milk.
Initially issued as a standard recall, the FDA earlier this month upgraded the action to a Class I recall, meaning “there is a substantial likelihood that use of or exposure to the violative product will result in serious adverse health consequences or death.”

Chips Ahoy Cookie Product Recall
Mondelez Global LLC has expanded its recall of its popular Chips Ahoy! After baking Bites Brookie cookies, it was discovered that small pieces of cornstarch were present in the product, posing a potential choking hazard.
“This voluntary recall is due to an incorrect mixing process that resulted in the formation of small cornstarch clumps in the product,” Mondelez Global wrote in a notice.
“Due to the nature and size of small starch clumps, the clumps may pose a choking hazard, particularly to special risk groups such as young children and the elderly.”

chocolate beans
Nearly 6,000 1.3-ounce repackaged promotional packs of Peanut M&Ms and Classic M&Ms sold in 20 states, including Massachusetts, have been recalled due to a labeling error.
It is considered the second highest risk level, meaning the candy may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, or there is a small chance of serious adverse health consequences.

Cereal, peanut butter and more recalled due to contact with rodent and bird droppings
Thousands of products including family favorites cereal and peanut butter are being recalled after exposure to rodent or bird droppings.
Contaminated products can pose serious health risks.
Affected products are sold in Minnesota, North Dakota and Indiana.
The recall includes hundreds of popular brands across food, beverages, pharmaceuticals, personal care and pet products.
Baby food recalled due to foreign matter
A popular baby food company is recalling one of its products after it was discovered it may contain pieces of soft plastic or paper.
The recall applies to limited batches of Gerber Arrowroot Crackers 5.5 ounces produced between July 2025 and September 2025, Gerber Products said in a statement.

The FDA classified the product as Class II risk – the second-highest classification – on January 20.
The affected products are sold in six states: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin.
The recalled product is sold in 1-gallon plastic jars with red lids and has a sell-by date of October 4, 2026.
Ground beef recall
CS Beef Packers of Idaho is recalling nearly 23,000 pounds of raw ground beef after discovering the product may be contaminated with E. coli.
