Fairfax County, Virginia (washington dc news now) — Eight people were hospitalized after a series of crashes involving 28 vehicles in Fairfax County on Friday morning, according to Virginia State Police (VSP).
Police said the initial crash occurred at 9:49 a.m. on I-495 SB at Braddock Road.
Eight people were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police added that the road was slippery at the time of the incident.

All southbound lanes of I-495 were closed for a period of time but have since reopened, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
