The San Francisco 49ers suffered a 13-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, losing their chance at the NFC’s top seed and a first-round bye.

In this loss, the 49ers’ offense was completely shut down by Seattle. George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey and Jauan Jennings didn’t do much. This performance may have hurt Jennings more than others in terms of individual success.

He will become a free agent at the end of this season and his goal is to reach a long-term contract. Austin Gayle of The Ringer predicts Jennings will get his wish, with the 28-year-old WR expected to earn a $60 million contract.

Jauan Jennings receives $60M contract projection

“Jakobi Meyers, a 29-year-old career slot receiver with elite hands, signed a three-year, $60 million contract extension with the Jaguars in December,” Gayle wrote. “Jennings’ asking price should start here.”

Offseason contract negotiations are always challenging, but thanks to the help of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Jakoy Meyers, Jennings has a starting point.

Meyers signed a three-year, $60 million contract with Jacksonville. Jennings is a similarly talented receiver who should easily reach the $60 million mark Meyers received from the Jaguars.

Meyers has 70 catches for 791 yards and three touchdowns this season, including 37 catches for 439 yards. All three touchdowns came from the Jaguars. He joined after being traded from the Las Vegas Raiders in the middle of the season.

Jennings has 55 catches for 643 yards and nine touchdowns this season. At 6-foot-3, he’s a threat in the red zone and is well worth the $60 million spent on Meyers.

Teams like the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, New Orleans Saints or Tennessee Titans could easily have Jennings on their roster with a contract worth $60 million or more due to their rookie quarterbacks or open contracts.

While the 49ers may find it a challenge to retain him, since Brandon Aiyuk’s contract is no longer active, they will have some extra money to try and retain their 2020 7th-round pick.
