4 possible landing spots for Saints DE Cameron Jordan in free agency

New Orleans Saints fans were stunned on Thursday when ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the franchise’s firing leader was at least open to the prospect of leaving in free agency. There’s always a chance Jordan and the Saints can’t come to an agreement, but seeing is believing. We may have seen his last black and gold sack.

So where will he go? These four teams could be a good fit for Jordan’s services, depending on what he wants. Whether it’s familiarity, a chance to win a Super Bowl, or just a raise, these teams have it all.

Could Jordan follow his old coach Dennis Allen to Chicago? perhaps. The Bears are said to be heavily pursuing a trade for Maxx Crosby from the Las Vegas Raiders, and getting another second-round pick for wide receiver DJ Moore would help. But if they don’t get Crosby, signing Jordan would add some heat to the pass rush for the Bears, who had 10 fewer sacks than the Saints last year. Familiarity is important, and Jordan had his best years when Allen was defensive coordinator.

While we’re talking about Jordan’s old coach, what about Sean Payton? He leads the NFL with 68 sacks on the Broncos defense, but they are preparing to lose John Franklin Miles (7.5 sacks) in free agency and could use Jordan’s help on the defensive line. Obviously, Jordan has a lot of connections in Denver, and the opportunity to join a playoff team must be attractive to him.

No team has fewer sacks than San Francisco (20) in 2025, and even if Jordan is unlikely to have 10.5 sacks on his own again, he could still add some pop to a missed pass rush. He has a great relationship with defensive coordinator Raheem Morris (former Atlanta Falcons head coach), and it would be pretty poetic if he ended his career with the 49ers like Ricky Jackson did. Maybe this move could also earn Jordan a Super Bowl ring.

This might be a bit of a curveball — with Patrick Mahomes returning from a serious knee injury, the Chiefs certainly don’t look to be competitive this year — but you never know. They have holes on defense after cutting long-time starter Mike Denner, and if Jordan is resentful of Payton leaving the Saints, joining a division rival and playing him twice a year could be a move. He had his true breakout year in 2012 in Steve Spagnuolo’s defense (now Chiefs DC), so maybe Jordan won’t look back on that season with as much pain as Saints fans.
