The game got off to an extremely cold start offensively for the Tide, as Alabama shot an eye-opening 5-for-23 from beyond the arc throughout the first half. However, Alabama was able to regroup and the Tide ultimately defeated the Rebels in the second half.
Here are three bold ideas for the Tide heading into their game against South Carolina.
LaBaron Philon scored 25 points + 10 assists

Philon is widely considered to be one of the top guards in college basketball through the 2025-26 season. Philon scored 18 points on 4-for-11 shooting in Oxford’s win, and the talented playmaker continues to play a vital role in Alabama’s backcourt on a nightly basis. Philon, a four-time SEC Player of the Week player this season, could start to shine soon against the mediocre Gamecocks on Saturday night.

Latrell Wrightsell stays hot, scores 20+ points with 3-pointer

When Wrightsale was fully healthy this season, he was absolutely an elite three-point shooter. The star senior dealt with multiple injuries heading into the 2025-26 season, but Wrightsell continued to shoot from beyond the arc. The sharpshooter scored an impressive 21 points on 7-for-13 shooting from beyond the arc in a win over Mississippi State, and the playmaker could soon find himself in action again on Saturday.
Aiden Sherrell played great defense and blocked 3+ shots

Scherer played a vital role on both sides of the ball for the Tide throughout the first half of SEC play. Scherer, 6-foot-10, 255 pounds, is a talented playmaker who will perform well for much of the 2025-26 season. The star forward currently leads the team with 2.4 blocks per game, as Scherer may soon become a key defender in this weekend’s game.
