The coordinated law enforcement effort includes deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office as well as partner agencies in the area, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said.

“I want to thank every agency that worked with us over the holiday weekend to keep our communities safe,” said Sheriff Oscar Ugarte. “These enforcement efforts are about saving lives. Too many families are affected by drunk driving. If you choose to drink, have a plan; designate a sober driver, call a ride, or stay put. There is absolutely no excuse for driving drunk.”

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office says DUI enforcement will continue year-round. The Sheriff’s Office says impaired driving continues to be one of the leading causes of serious crashes and deaths on El Paso area roadways.

Residents are encouraged to call 911 to report suspected drunk drivers.
