2026 NFL Draft: Identifying top prospects for Detroit Lions

Although Detroit already feels like it’s been a long winter, sadly it’s still only the middle of February. However, warmer days are coming, as will the 2026 NFL Draft in April. In a few weeks, the NFL’s annual NFL Combine will kick off in Indianapolis, and before we know it, free agency will be here too.

So, to prepare ourselves before all the chaos to come, we were lucky enough to have a table to ourselves on the Pride of Detroit YouTube channel. This week, Meko Scott and I join The Machine’s Erik Schlitt to discuss some of his favorite prospects in the class of 2026.

We start by looking back at the 2023 NFL Draft and how many thought Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes was forced to pivot after the Seattle Seahawks selected defensive back Devin Witherspoon with the fifth overall pick. Looking back now, it seems like a good result for both teams. From here, we get into Eric’s favorite prospects at a few different positions, including offensive tackle and linebacker, tight end, and linebacker and safety. It was a very interesting conversation and it did a great job of organizing the players into different levels ahead of the combine training later in February.

If that’s the case on the board, do you agree with the Lions drafting a linebacker or safety at No. 17? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
