2026 NBA All-Star Game will end remarkable streak for LeBron James

The Western and Eastern Conference starters for the 2026 NBA All-Star Game were announced on Monday, and it was no surprise that Luka Doncic of the Los Angeles Lakers was selected as one of the 10 starters.

However, there is one player who does not appear on this list, which is somewhat surprising. For the first time since his first appearance in the All-Star Game, LeBron James was not selected as an All-Star starter.

Perhaps that has a lot to do with the sciatica that forced him to miss the first 14 games of the season and his streak of 1,297 consecutive games with at least 10 points that ended a few weeks ago. Although he has averaged 25.5 points, 6.4 rebounds and 6.6 assists since the streak ended, he did not receive enough votes to become a starter this year.

This means that James’ streak of consecutive All-Star starts is over. Last year marked his 21st consecutive year being named the starter, although he ultimately chose not to participate in actual games.

While it’s still uncertain, there’s still a good chance he’ll be named a reserve player for the Midseason Classic, which will be held at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. Substitutes for this game will be selected by NBA coaches and announced on February 1.
