2. Bundesliga: Sven Michel saves Paderborn against ten-man Braunschweig

Promotion chasers Paderborn dominated the first half but failed to create big chances. Their better chances fell to attacking midfielders Nick Butzner and Ruben Müller, but Elhan Castellati was barely tested in his second appearance for Braunschweig.

The visitors got off to an exciting start in the second half, with Robin Hoysel scoring his first goal of the season just seven minutes after coming on. Paderborn captain Felix Götze was at fault when he lost possession in a dangerous area.

Patrick Nkoya’s straight red card was the next game-changing factor as Paderborn dominated the rest of the game. Sven Michel will also miss next weekend’s game after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season, but he saved the day for the hosts.

The 35-year-old teamed up with substitute Stefon Tiegs to equalize for Paderborn in the 98th minute. Paderborn’s unbeaten run extended to five games, but they dropped to fourth in the standings after wins at Darmstadt and Elversberg in round 25.
