It was far from plain sailing for the home side, who fell behind at half-time after Vincent Vermeij headed home. However, a brace from Stefon Teagues, who came off the bench in the second half, completed the comeback in time.
Dresden created their first big chance after just 13 minutes when Vermeij sprinted towards goal but was denied by a superb last-gasp challenge from Felix Gotze, who denied what looked like a sure opener.

The visitors continued to threaten and were rewarded with a set-piece in the 32nd minute. Jonas Sterner’s deep corner hit the back post and Vermeij headed in past Dennis Seimen to give Dresden a deserved lead at half-time.
The game got underway early in the second half with both teams getting physical up front. Dresden nearly doubled their advantage when Ben Bobzien burst into the box and fired from a tight angle, but his shot hit the crossbar.
Christophe Daverner then missed a great chance, but the miss proved costly. After a while, Paderborn equalized the score. Gotze sent a cross into the penalty area. Tiegs got up and headed past Tim Schreiber to make the score 1-1.
The equalizer sparked a clear shift in momentum as Paderborn grew in confidence and pushed for victory. After sustained pressure, they found a breakthrough five minutes later. Tiegs struck again, facing a corner kick at the near post and heading home, leaving Schreiber in no man’s land.
