18-year-old indicted after police say BMW reached 100+ MPH before fatal Charlotte crash

CHARLOTTE (Queen City News) – A Mecklenburg County grand jury has formally indicted an 18-year-old accused of causing a fatal crash in south Charlotte that killed two women.

According to court documents, Jason Anthony Scott was served with an actual indictment on January 21, 2026. The case is now back in court on March 19, records show.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, the indictment stems from a fatal crash that occurred near the intersection of Red Rust Lane and Ardrey Kyle Road on Dec. 27 around 7:45 p.m. Investigators said the 2013 BMW driven by Scott collided with a 2011 Honda CR-V.
