Former Portsmouth defender Nathan Thompson has been reflecting on Pompeyâs attacking problems during Saturdayâs 1-0 defeat at Hull City and believes the problem lies with positioning.
âWhen you see the ball go wide, the only person in the box â oftentimes itâs just Colby. [Bishop] âThompson told BBC Radio Solent. âAs a defender, if you only have one person to worry about, it becomes very easy to mark.

âWhen you get out wide you need bodies in the box and that didnât happen on Saturday.â
The defeat means Portsmouth remains a nerve-wracking five points clear of the relegation zone.
However, Thompson isnât worried about the teamâs survival potential.
âThe manager will be disappointed from Saturday but ultimately he will say, âWe can work together here and this will give us a real chanceâ,â he said.
âGetting back-to-back wins two weeks ago gives them a really good opportunity in a lot of ways.â
