“Zoom at home” is touted as a combination of hardware and software designed to work remotely, and this trend is expected to continue after the threat of coronavirus is reduced.
A 27-inch (69 cm) display customized for online collaboration with Zoom is priced at US$599 (approximately Rs 45,000) and will be displayed on a Portal screen made by Facebook.
Zoom CEO Eric Yuan said in a press release: “After we have experienced remote work ourselves in the past few months, it is clear that we need to innovate a category specifically for remote workers. .”
Zoom, headquartered in Silicon Valley, collaborated with display manufacturer DTEN to display on the display, which will begin shipping in August.
Zoom promises that as long as the user obtains a license to use the service, the giant, tablet-like device can be “ready to use”.
Zoom cited a study done by IBM in April and found that 61% of respondents wanted remote work to be their main way of working.
IDC senior research analyst Rich Costello said in a press release: “As employers and employees look like in the future, it is very important that people prepare for success.”
“We have now entered the stage of ensuring that employees have the right equipment to increase productivity.”
Microsoft and Google have been improving the features and usability of their respective video conferencing platforms because people who wander at home due to the pandemic tend to work remotely, go to school, and socialize.
At the end of last year, Facebook launched the second-generation Portal smart screen, calling it a way to keep in touch with loved ones on leading social networks.
Facebook has also cut costs to make the new Portal, Portal Mini and Portal TV devices more attractive to consumers, starting at US$129 (approximately Rs 9,700).
You can use Amazon Echo Show and Google Nest smart screens for video calls, but Portal is tied to Facebook, Messenger, and WhatsApp connections, and these connections are end-to-end encrypted.
