Why didn’t Leon Draisaitl join the Oilers?
Draisaitl left Edmonton to attend to family matters.
Here’s what the Oilers announced:
“Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl will be taking a temporary leave of absence to travel to Germany due to a family illness. He is expected to return to the team late next week. The club requests privacy at this time on behalf of Leon.”
Draisaitl is a 30-year-old superstar.
This season, he has 25 goals and 42 assists (67 points) in 48 games.

In his career, he has 1,023 points in 838 games, specifically 424 goals and 599 assists.
Draisaitl has appeared in all 838 career NHL games with the Oilers after being selected third overall in the 2014 NHL Draft.
