Vivo is reportedly working on a new flagship smartphone that is expected to support up to 200W fast charging. Vivo is said to have earlier worked on 100W fast charging for phones, but now, with the new charging adapter, the company expects to go beyond 200W fast charging capability. Flagship smartphones are now expected to support 20V/10A charging. It is said that the entire product line will be backward compatible with 120W, 80W and 66W charging rates.

On the Chinese microblogging site Weibo, the Tipster digital chat announced that vivo is currently developing a flagship product that supports 200W fast charging. He said the company had earlier planned to offer just 100W of fast charging for smartphones, but since the company has switched to a new charging adapter that supports 20V, it has managed to offer up to 200W of fast charging support. The tipster adds that this makes the entire lineup backward compatible with 120W, 80W and 66W charging rates. It is also hinted that the smartphone may be equipped with a battery with a capacity greater than 4000mAh.

No name or any other details about the smartphone’s specifications and availability were revealed. Vivo also didn’t confirm the launch or make a 200W fast charging claim.

The company’s last flagship product was the Vivo X80 Pro launched in April this year. To recall, this smartphone comes with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and a quad rear setup. It houses a 4,700mAh battery that supports 80W fast charging and wireless charging. It has a 6.78-inch touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate. On the front, it comes with a 32-megapixel selfie camera. On the back, it features a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 48-megapixel sensor, a 12-megapixel sensor, and an 8-megapixel shooter. It comes with Android 12 and OriginOS Ocean out of the box.
