Valve to Reportedly Debut Its Next VR Headset, ‘Steam Frame’, This Week; Half Life 3 Announcement Rumoured

Valve is reportedly gearing up to make a big announcement. The traditional video game company, developer of some of the most popular and beloved games of all time, will unveil its next-generation VR headset as soon as this week, reportedly called the “Steam Frame.” Multiple industry sources have reported that an announcement from Valve is imminent, sparking rumors that the company may also end up releasing Half-Life 3.

Valve, which currently offers the Valve Index, is said to be developing its next generation VR headset. The device is reportedly called the Steam Frame, but previous leaks also suggested it would be titled Deckard. Sadly Its Bradley, known for VR and XR device leaks, recently made an announcement on Discord, and according to the post, Valve may make an announcement this week, as early as Wednesday, November 12th.

Keep an eye out for announcements from Valve this week, sources told the source. According to sources (via r/GamingLeaksAnd Rumors ), Valve may announce the device this week and take a week or two to explain it to users before opening orders.

While the leaker didn’t mention the name of the device, it’s believed to be the Steam Frame, the company’s next VR headset.

Several other industry insiders have since backed up the claim. Moore’s Law is Dead, known for gaming hardware leaks, posted on Wednesday: “If you’re a fan of @valvesoftware, check back for news in about 16 hours,” hinting that an announcement is imminent.

Valve may release Half-Life 3

Additionally, there are rumors that Valve has announced some big news, big enough that it could surpass the hype surrounding GTA 6. Xbox Era co-founder Nick Baker said on X that he’s received information that, if true, could steal GTA 6’s thunder next week.

Now, perhaps there’s only one game that can do that: Half-Life 3. For newcomers, Half-Life 3 is the holy grail of gaming. Fans have been waiting, talking about, and releasing Half-Life 3 for so long that it’s almost part of internet history now. “Half-Life 2” was released in 2004, and Valve released the VR game “Half-Life: Alyx” in 2020. But a third mainline Half-Life game is still awaited.

However, Valve is known for its small moves, so it’s best to take all rumors with a grain of salt. The company has yet to confirm an announcement for an upcoming next-generation VR headset or the next Half-Life game.

Valve launched the Valve Index VR headset in 2019 and has since expanded its presence in the hardware space with the hugely popular Steam Deck. Half-Life: Alyx is bundled with Valve Index.
