On a day when Patrick Agyemão was injured at Derby County, Mauricio Pochettino and the USMNT received good news late on Monday with Weston McKennie scoring for Juventus and Alhaji Wright returning to the Coventry City starting XI.
McKennie (90th minute) combined with Francisco Conceição to complete a perfect counterattack in the 17th minute, then fired a one-time shot from 15 yards into the lower left corner to help the team score the second goal in a 2-0 home win over Genoa.
The versatile Texan scored his fifth Serie A goal, tying his personal best in the league. He also scored four goals in the Champions League and scored a career-high nine goals in 42 games.

Christian Pulisic took his goal tally to 13 games for AC Milan after a late 16-minute performance in AC Milan’s 1-0 loss to Napoli. His last goal was on December 28. After squandering chances against Belgium and Portugal in the March international window, Pulisic has gone eight consecutive United States games without scoring, with the last coming in November 2024.
In the Championship, forward Hadji Wright made his first start since suffering a groin injury on March 14, playing 64 minutes in first-place Coventry City’s 0-0 draw with Hull City. With a 12-point advantage, the Sky Blues are all but certain to return to the Premier League for the first time since 2001.
Wright is enjoying an excellent season: 16 goals in the league, second on the Championship goalscoring list, and one in the Carabao Cup. He also scored twice in the United States’ friendly against Australia in October.
Defensive midfielder Aidan Morris started against Portugal last week and scored highly in 90 minutes of playing time as Middlesbrough drew 2-2 with mid-table Swansea City and moved into joint second place on the points table with Ipswich Town and Millwall. Middlesbrough and Millwall have five games left, and Ipswich still have seven games to fight for the second promotion spot.

In Spain, right-back Alex Freeman came on in the 71st minute of the 0-1 loss to Girona, his longest appearance since joining third-placed Villarreal in January. Freeman started against Portugal and has made five La Liga appearances, totaling 58 minutes, since leaving Orlando City at the end of the winter transfer window.
