Ubisoft’s online tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege is getting a makeover. The company announced a “new era” for Rainbow Six Siege X on Monday, promising major gameplay changes in upcoming updates. Ubisoft will detail the changes to the game during a special presentation next month. Rainbow Six Siege launched on PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2015, and has received regular content updates and improvements since then.

Ubisoft will hold an “R6 Siege X” showcase on March 13 to showcase new upgrades for “Rainbow Six: Siege.” According to the announcement, it looks like the game will be renamed Rainbow Six Siege X, with the developer promising an overhaul that will “lay the foundation for years of tactical and unique gameplay to come.” Of course, this isn’t a sequel, but a major upgrade that promises deeper gameplay improvements and new content.

Ubisoft said in a blog post on Monday: “The R6 team has been working tirelessly to deliver the biggest transformation in the history of the game, aiming to solidify Rainbow Six Siege’s position as the leading tactical first-person shooter by introducing new gameplay, deepened tactical gameplay, refined game feel and major upgrades across the board.” The announcement was also accompanied by a trailer for Rainbow Six Siege X, which did not reveal much information.

Ubisoft will host a Rainbow Six Siege X showcase on March 13 at 5pm GMT/6pm CET (10:30pm IST). The event will be held in Atlanta, Georgia and broadcast live. At the showcase, Ubisoft will reveal “all the evolutions of Siege X.” The Seige X reveal appears to be a hands-on event where players and creators will be able to experience new updates to the game.

The Siege X update marks the 10th anniversary of the game’s release. During its 2024-25 third-quarter earnings call last week, Ubisoft said that the Ubisoft Montreal development team is preparing “some big things” to celebrate the milestone.

After underwhelming sales at launch, Rainbow Six Siege has found a loyal player base over the years, with Ubisoft releasing regular updates to support the game. In 2021, the company confirmed that “Siege” has exceeded 75 million registered players across all platforms.
