TVS Motor is reportedly planning to expand its electric two-wheeler portfolio in India this year and early next year. The brand will reportedly launch a new electric scooter this year and another model in March 2025. The company’s CEO confirmed the development during an investor call to discuss their electric vehicle (EV) plans. The company currently offers several different versions of iQube, which are very successful in India. TVS also launched the X-Sport electric scooter. However, due to some technical issues, the brand did not start delivering the product. TVS X is a visually appealing product that will help the company attract more customers to its showrooms.
According to Bikewale, the brand is developing a variety of electric scooters. Additionally, the brand is developing electric motorcycles. The upcoming bike is likely to come with an affordable price tag. The report further highlights that the brand may be preparing to launch an electric version of Jupiter. In addition, the brand may also launch an electric car targeting the B2B segment, which may be called XL Electric.
The brand recently trademarked two names for its electric vehicles, namely E-XL and XL EV. The report further claims that the company may launch the electric car at the 2025 Bharat Expo and launch it officially in March 2025.
Although EV adoption has yet to reach double digits, automakers believe the market has more room to grow. As of August, TVS was the second-largest producer in India’s electric two-wheeler industry, after Ola Electric. Bajaj Auto’s Chakan plant produced 19,128 vehicles in September, surpassing TVS to take second place, while TVS produced 18,099 vehicles.
