The Ministry of Information Technology of the Government of India banned a total of 59 Chinese applications in the country, including some very popular names, such as TikTok, CamScanner, Shareit, Mobile Legends, UC Browser and Weibo. The press release stated that these applications pose a threat to national security and public order, and “damage the sovereignty and integrity of India.”
Government order says the above apps have been blocked “Given the information available, their activities are detrimental to India’s sovereignty and integrity, safeguarding India, national security and public order.” The ministry claimed to have taken action against the complaint on the grounds of theft of user data and transmission of user data to servers located abroad.
