The YouTube Music app is now available for Apple Watch. Users can use the app on the Apple Watch to directly browse the music collection, control playback, and select projection options. In order to use the app, users must have the latest version of YouTube Music, a Series 3 or higher Apple Watch (running watchOS 6 or higher), a YouTube Premium subscription, and an iPhone. As Google plans to close Google Play Music later this month to focus on only one music streaming platform, it has been introducing new features for YouTube Music. It is worth noting that the release of the YouTube music application on Apple Watch predates the release of Google’s wearable platform on Wear OS.
YouTube announced that the application will have a complication (in addition to saying the time, it also represents the watch function)-the custom function of the Apple Watch, allowing users to display relevant information directly on the dial. The YouTube music function allows users to directly access playback controls and recommend new songs based on their listening habits. They can also cast music directly from the iPhone to the speakers with the push of a button.
The YouTube Music team said in a blog: “Whether you are running, cycling or walking around the house, YouTube Music Apple Watch can easily achieve playback control.” You can download it from the App Store on the Apple Watch.
As Google Play Music prepares to close later this month, the parent company Google has been focusing on YouTube Music and has introduced some new features. Now, users can play personal playlists through Google Assistant and cast their uploaded music to devices and speakers (this feature was previously limited to premium subscribers). It also expanded the “Browse” tab to include global YouTube charts.
Google also introduced new features earlier this week to enhance the experience of the YouTube Music app on TV. The company talked about its YouTube Music plan for smart watches in its blog, including smart watches powered by its own Wear OS platform. “The company said that this is just the beginning of YouTube music on smart watches. Please stay tuned on Wear. More available updates for YouTube Music. “
