The Witcher: Bloodborne trailer is here. At Comic-Con Experience (CCXP) in Brazil, Netflix released a full-length trailer for its upcoming spin-off prequel series, set at a time in the continent’s history when the elf race was at its most powerful. The biggest surprise, however, was the arrival of Joey Batey’s Jaskier, better known as Dandelion the bard, Henry Cavill Cavill, a key character in the mainline Witcher series, which takes place centuries later. One could argue that there is an element of time travel, but then again, Jaskier never gets old in the Netflix series, which raises some questions.

The Witcher: Blood Origins trailer, set in the Golden Age of Elves, 1,200 years before Geralt of Rivia, opens with some exposition dumps detailing a band of seven outcasts who unite Together they overthrew an unstoppable empire. “I’ve taken control of the entire continent,” says Chief Sage Balor (Lenny Henry), leading a dysfunctional kingdom brimming with violence. “In the face of chaos, people will always choose order. No matter the cost.” While previous trailers have only focused on protagonists Scian (Michelle Yeoh), the elven warrior, Fjall (Laurence O’Fuarain), a vengeful barbarian, and Éile (Laurence O’Fuarain), a traveling musician Sophia Brown), but this new trailer gives us a glimpse of what remains of a group of strangers who have come together for a noble and mysterious cause.

In addition them, we have Francesca Mills as the warrior dwarf Meldof, Huw Novelli as the mohawk-headed Callan “death brother,” and a pair of celestial saint siblings Syndril and Zacaré, played by Zach Wyatt and Lizzie Annis respectively. “I swear, if we meet again, I’ll kill you,” Éile warns Fjall, both of whom are from warring clans and have trouble trusting each other. However, the trailer for The Witcher: Origins seems to suggest that this trust will slowly blossom into romance, as the pair work together “Beneath the Blade” to form a near-unstoppable force. We’re then introduced to some kind of monster, presumably summoned by Balor and his troops, and sent to hunt down our hero.

“We’re fusing the power of this creature with one of you,” Syndril tells his squad, as a means of stopping it from destroying the world, which may coincide with the creation of the first prototype – as before as revealed by the reports. The four-part series led the Sphere’s Binding Event, which merged the realms of monsters, humans, and elves into one, completely abolishing the elves’ powerful status. At the end of the trailer for The Witcher: Bloodborne, Seanchaí (Minny Driver) introduces a weary Jaskier (Joey Betty). “You’re a bard. I’m a storyteller. I need you to sing a story about bringing the dead back to life,” she said.

The Witcher: Bloodborne was originally greenlit for six episodes, but was axed in the room because it would the story flow. “[The cutdown] It happened organically, forming four episodes out of all the footage we shot. Best story flow,” co-creator Declan de Barra told Collider. “I wanted it be a punch in the face so you couldn’t take your eyes off it. “

All four episodes of The Witcher: Blood Origins will be available on Netflix on Christmas Day, December 25.
