Mundaun is the first full title of Hidden Fields (a single studio created by Swiss programmer and illustrator Michel Ziegler). The characters, scenes and environments you saw in the trailer above are all drawn by hand. The game is influenced by the dark, mythical folklore of the Swiss Alps.
It is still in its infancy, but we provide an overview, feature list, and promotional art for you to view below:
Overview: After learning that his grandfather had died mysteriously in a fire, the protagonist went to Mondan for the first time since he was a child. He will soon discover that ancient and annoying things are haunting the remaining residents. To find out the meaning behind these treacherous events, players need to travel along the Mundaun Mountain, crossing steep grasslands, stone fields and snow-covered peaks.
Mundaun is a handmade horror story set in a dark and secluded valley in the Alps. Players will explore areas full of secrets, survive hostile encounters, drive vehicles and solve various hand-made puzzles to find the truth.
●Inspired by the dark mythical legend of the Swiss Alps: The mystery of Mondane is revealed in the alpine world. Players travel through meadows and snow-capped mountains. Reality and myth are intertwined. Beware of roaming creatures.
●Hand-drawn aesthetics: This is a well-drawn story told in taupe. Swiss programmer and illustrator Michel Ziegler draws each character, scene and environment texture.
●Anti-fear factors: “Causality” system that affects gameplay. The stronger the fear, the slower the player moves.
●Puzzle-based actions: Solve puzzles integrated with the game world to make you go up the mountain.
●Interactive environment: Talk to remote residents, they even have their own obscure language, and travel through the scenery of vehicles such as sledges and hay loaders.
