Between May 23 and May 30, the sci-fi horror series was watched at 287 million hours, according to the platform’s internal measurements. It’s important to note here that the first seven episodes of Stranger Things season 4 (called Stranger Things 4 Episode 1, which premiered on May 27) were only available for three days during that time.

The Regency-era drama saw 656.26 million hours watched worldwide in its first 28 days. Stranger Things season 4 achieved a 44% viewership in just three days. (The final two episodes of Stranger Things 4 are nearly four hours long and are set to hit theaters July 1.)

That said, Season 4 of Stranger Things may not be able to beat the Korean survival thriller The Squid Game, which clocked 1.65 billion hours in its first 28 days, setting a record for the most-watched Netflix series.The fifth installment (792.23 million hours) of Spanish-language crime drama The Money Heist also moved up a few spots bridgeton Season 2.
Either way, it’s safe to say that the hype surrounding Stranger Things season 4 has taken this franchise to new heights. The first three seasons of the series had 84.55 million hours watched between May 21 and May 27, the week before the latest installment was released. Kate Bush’s 1985 song “Running Up That Hill” was used this season, and it reached number one on Apple’s iTunes (US) and number two on Spotify’s US charts since its debut.
