Kyler Murray will become a free agent after the Arizona Cardinals reportedly notified him of their plans to release him on Tuesday.
This is interesting news for the Pittsburgh Steelers, whose quarterback situation remains fluid as they wait for Aaron Rodgers to decide if he wants to play in 2026.

If he does, the Steelers may try to bring him back. After all, he led the team to the playoffs last season and has a long-standing relationship with new Pittsburgh head coach Mike McCarthy.
However, if Rodgers doesn’t return, Murray could be an option.
In late January, Steelers beat reporter Nick Farabaugh said on 93.7 The Fan that McCarthy liked Murray.
“Mike McCarthy used to be very fond of Kyler Murray. That’s something to watch,” Farabaugh said. “Assuming Rodgers doesn’t want to come back. I think Keller will be at the table.”
Considering Murray can make the league minimum salary, he should. The Steelers will only have to pay him $1.3 million next season, which would give them enough financial flexibility to pursue other players and potentially another quarterback.

Time will tell how much McCarthy likes Murray and how much he wants him on Pittsburgh’s roster, if at all. The price is right, but is the player right?
