Split Fiction, a cross-genre cooperative adventure game, has sold 4 million copies, Hazelight Studios announced Wednesday. Publisher Electronic Arts said during its fourth-quarter 2025 earnings call that the game is approaching sales milestones and has been “extremely successful” for the company, exceeding expectations. Split Fiction launched in March and sold over 1 million copies within 48 hours.

“So many of you have started reading Split Fiction, which is awesome,” Hazlett said in a post on Wednesday. “Seeing the fun you have in our games and the love you show for Mio, Zoe, and each other warms our hearts at Hazelight.”
Split Fiction has sold 4 million units, and the number of cross-platform players may have reached 8 million, as the cooperative game requires two players. However, only one player will need to purchase the game, and the other can join for free using a Friend Pass.

Split Fiction was released under the EA Originals brand and was also a hit at Electronic Arts. EA said during its fourth-quarter earnings call that fiscal 2025 results were strong thanks to the “huge success” of the March launches of EA Sports FC and Split Fiction.
“In the fourth quarter, Hazelight Studios had a strong launch of Split Fiction, a new IP. This incredible game exceeded our expectations, attracted global attention and has sold nearly 4 million units to date,” EA CEO Andrew Wilson said in prepared remarks during the earnings call. “This success proves that shared experiences combined with great stories and diverse gameplay have the power to break through and capture the imagination of people around the world.”
EA CFO Stuart Canfield also called Split Fiction a “breakout success” and said the game sold nearly double the company’s expectations.
Meanwhile, Hazelight has already begun work on its next project, with studio director Josef Fares confirming in March that the next game is in the early stages of development.
Split Fiction launched on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X on March 6 to critical acclaim. This cooperative adventure game is one of the highest-rated games of 2025. The game sold over 1 million copies in just 48 hours after its release.
