Sony Unveils 27-Inch PlayStation Gaming Monitor That Comes With a Charging Hook for DualSense Controller

Sony unveiled a new gaming monitor for PS5 owners who love tabletop gaming at its State of Play Japan event on Tuesday. This 27-inch PlayStation gaming monitor features a charging dock for the DualSense controller and a QHD IPS display that supports HDR and variable refresh rates up to 240hz when connected to a PC or Mac.

Sony said the PlayStation gaming monitor will be launched in the United States and Japan in 2026. The PlayStation parent company didn’t confirm the monitor’s price in its announcement, but said it would share more information about the release date and availability in the coming months.

Since launching the PS5, Sony has been expanding its gaming peripheral offerings, offering wireless headsets, earbuds, PlayStation Remote players, and, most recently, wireless speakers. Now, PlayStation Display will allow users to play games on PS5 in a desktop environment. Of course, you can also connect to a PC.

PlayStation Gaming Monitor Specs, Features

The 27-inch monitor features a QHD IPS display with a resolution of up to 2560×1440. The panel supports high dynamic range (HDR) and automatic HDR tone mapping, which automatically adjusts HDR settings when setting up PS5 and PS5 Pro. The display also supports VRR and refresh rates up to 120Hz when connected to PS5 and PS5 Pro, or 240Hz on compatible PC and Mac computers.

The most unique feature, however, is the “charging hook” shape on the front of the monitor stand, which allows users to charge the PS5 DualSense controller.

Beyond that, the PlayStation monitor comes with the features we’ve come to expect from a gaming monitor. It supports VESA mounting and has a range of ports, including two HDMI 2.1 ports and a DisplayPort 1.4 port, allowing you to connect it to a PS5, PC, Mac or other compatible devices. Keep in mind that HDMI and DisplayPort cables are not included with the monitor.

The monitor also comes with two USB Type-A and one USB Type-C ports for use with a PlayStation Link adapter or other USB devices. The PlayStation Link adapter allows the monitor to connect to Sony peripherals that support PlayStation Link, such as the Pulse Elevate wireless speakers. The monitor also comes with built-in stereo speakers and a 3.5mm audio jack.

It is not yet clear whether the PlayStation gaming monitor will be launched in India. However, it will be available in the US and Japan next year.
