Sonny Styles’ performance at Ohio State made him one of the top prospects in this year’s draft class, and Thursday’s performance at the scouting combine further boosted his chances of becoming one of the No. 1 picks in April.
Styles ran the fastest 40-yard dash of any linebacker with a 4.46-second time, and he also posted the highest vertical and broad jumps of the day. According to ESPN research, Styles’ 43.5-inch vertical jump is the best among linebackers since 2003.

Stiles’ Ohio State teammate Avir Reese will also be an early choice, splitting his duties between linebacker and rusher during Thursday’s practice. He ran a 4.46 in the 40 meters but did not compete in the jumps or other events at Indianapolis.
David Bailey also helped his career. He ran a 4.5 40, trailing only Reese among aspiring edge players, and the Texas Tech star had a 35-inch vertical jump in Thursday’s practice.
Rueben Bain ranks among the top rushing prospects along with Bailey and Reese, but he did not practice Thursday.
