Skull & Bones may finally—finally—set sail on November 8, after years of development hell. An industry source revealed the game’s Xbox Store entry, which reveals the aforementioned release date. The alleged list also includes several DLC packs that may be available at launch. Ubisoft Singapore reportedly began development in 2013 as a spinoff of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Now, almost a decade later, Skull and Bones still doesn’t have an official release date.
The so-called Skull & Bones Xbox store listing is shared Insider Aggiornamenti Lumia (@ALumia_Italia). The tweet mentions that Skull and Bones will be releasing a number of DLC packs, including pre-order bonuses, Bloody Bones’ Legacy quests, Pirates of Ember quests, Smuggler’s Pass, digital soundtrack and artbook, and premium bonus packs.Lumia too shared Skull & Bones will be released on November 8th. Ubisoft has yet to officially announce a release date. However, noted informant Tom Henderson (@_TomHenderson) has confirmed The statement made by Lumia puts weight on the November 8 launch date.
Skull & Bones was originally revealed by Ubisoft during its E3 2017 event, followed by an extended gameplay trailer at E3 2018. Over the next few years, the buzz died down as the game was pushed back into obscurity. The game has recently returned to the spotlight after test footage of the game reportedly leaked on Reddit, providing a detailed look at gameplay.
Set in the open waters of the Indian Ocean, Skull & Bones can be explored solo or with a party of five players. It sounds like Xbox’s Sea of Thieves, except it’s not cartoonish. Pirate ship combat will serve as a core part of the game, as other players will be able to battle you and claim your dropped treasure. Playing from a third-person perspective–like Assassin’s Creed–players will be able to customize their character, and manage the ship and crew.
Skull & Bones is now expected to release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 8th. It was previously expected to launch in 2019. Given the launch of new consoles during this period, Skull and Bones is likely to also land on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X.
