SAN DIEGO (AP) — Anders Dreher and Marcus Invatsson had a goal and an assist and rookie Duran Ferry kept his second clean sheet in his second game as San Diego FC beat St. Louis City 2-0 on Sunday night.
Dreher gave San Diego (2-0-0) the lead in the third minute when he shot past Roman Burki with assists from Ingvartsson and Oni Valacari.

San Diego, which won first place in the Western Conference regular season last year as an expansion team, took a two-goal lead in the 54th minute when Ingvartsson scored on an assist from Dreher.
Dreyer scored 19 goals and provided 19 assists last season. He started the season with two assists in San Diego’s 5-0 win over Montreal. Ingvartsen had one assist in eight appearances last season and now has two assists to his name. Valacari totaled four goals and 11 assists in his first year in San Diego.
After making two saves in the opener, the 19-year-old Ferry needed just one save to seal the win for San Diego.
Burki stopped four shots for St. Louis City (0-1-1). Burki had two saves, while Ferre was not tested in the first half.

St. Louis City tied with Charlotte FC 1-1 on a goal from Marcel Hartl. San Diego beat Hartle, who had five goals in six games prior to last season.
St. Louis won the Western Conference regular season title in 2023 as an expansion team.
