The company launched Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 at its Galaxy Unpacked virtual event. It has suffered a lot of leaks and rumors, but now, finally, it is officially announced. Galaxy Watch 3 has two dial sizes-41mm and 45mm. There are two variants of each size, one with Wi-Fi only, and the other with LTE connection only. Galaxy Watch 3 also passed the MIL-STD-810G certification, is waterproof, and also has three color options.
Samsung said that Galaxy Watch 3 has made many improvements on the original Galaxy Watch. It is 14% thinner, 8% smaller and 15% lighter than previous products.
Samsung said in a statement: “With each new iteration, the functionality of the Galaxy Watch will expand. Now, the Galaxy Watch 3 will provide a new experience in health and healthcare monitoring.”
Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 price
Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 is available in stainless steel and titanium variants. It is available in three colors, namely “mysterious black”, “mysterious bronze” and “mysterious silver”. However, the 45mm model will get black and silver, while the 41mm model will get silver and bronze. The smartwatch is also available in LTE and Wi-Fi versions, suitable for 41mm and 45mm sizes, respectively. Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 will be available today in select markets around the world. The 41mm model starts at US$399 (approximately Rs 30,000) in the United States, while the 45mm model starts at US$429 (approximately Rs 32,100).
According to Samsung, the Galaxy Watch Titanium variant will be available later this year. There is no news about prices or availability in India.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 specifications
Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 3 runs on Wearable OS 5.5 based on Tizen. It has a 1.2-inch (360×360 pixel) circular Super AMOLED display on the 41mm model, and a 1.4-inch display on the 45mm model, with the same resolution as the Corning Gorilla Glass DX protection. The smartwatch is powered by dual-core Exynos 9110 CPU and Mali-T720 GPU, and is equipped with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage space.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 has IP68 water resistance and a design that complies with MIL-STD-810G. The smaller 41mm model has a 247mAh battery, while the larger 45mm model has a 340mAh battery. Connection options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth v5.0 for Wi-Fi models, while the LTE model comes with eSIM support for 4G connectivity. There is also GPS on board. There is also a speaker and microphone, you can talk directly on the smart watch.
The company said the smartwatch also has a blood oxygen (SpO2) function, which will be able to measure and track blood oxygen saturation over time. In addition, the smartwatch will also get the Samsung Health Monitor app after launch, which will support blood pressure (BP) monitoring and electrocardiogram (ECG) readings in selected markets.
Samsung has also added a new travel detection function to the smartwatch, which allows users to send custom SOS alerts to emergency contacts.
In terms of design, there are two buttons on the right side of the smartwatch for returning home. There is also a physical rotating bezel. It comes with belts of different sizes.
In terms of functions, Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 is equipped with heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, automatic exercise detection, running coaching, fall detection and female health tracking. It includes Bixby voice assistance and gesture control. The sensors on Galaxy Watch 3 include PPG sensor, ECG, SpO2 sensor, Accelerometer, gyroscope sensor, barometer and ambient light sensor. In terms of weight, the 41mm model weighs 48 grams, while the 45mm model weighs 53 grams.
