The 2026 WWE Royal Rumble has a lot of twists and turns, but now that Roman Reigns has secured a spot at WrestleMania 42, fans are wondering who he will face.
The former World Heavyweight Champion knocked Gunther out of the ring to win the coveted men’s Royal Rumble match. However, Reigns has higher goals for WrestleMania in Las Vegas.

On this week’s Monday Night Raw, Roman Reigns faced off against CM Punk and named his opponent for a major WWE event in April.

After telling CM Punk that he would be facing the current Undisputed Champion of WWE, he released an epic promo for the WrestleMania 42 card in typical Roman Reigns style.
“I can pick you because you’re the biggest star,” Reigns said angrily. “I can choose you because you’re on Netflix and it’s the biggest show…I choose you because I hate you.”
Punk and Reigns have a long history together, especially before WrestleMania 41 after manager Paul Heyman left the latter to represent CM Punk.

While Roman Reigns could have easily chosen Smackdown Champion Drew McIntyre, it was clear that the history between him and CM Punk would lead to an epic WrestleMania showdown in a few months.
