Capcom’s upcoming survival horror game Resident Evil Requiem showed off new gameplay at Thursday’s Resident Evil showcase. Capcom is showing players more action gameplay through the game’s secondary protagonist, Leon S. Kennedy. Resident Evil Requiem will be released on PC, PS5, Xbox Series S/X and Nintendo Switch 2 on February 27th.
The Resident Evil showcase at The Game Awards 2025 revealed Leon as Requiem’s second playable protagonist. Capcom initially revealed FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft as the game’s protagonist, emphasizing stealth-focused survival horror gameplay. With Leon, Resident Evil Requiem will allow players to experience brutal action gameplay, in contrast to Grace’s character, who relies on stealth.
Resident Evil Requiem game details
Game director Koshi Nakanishi said that players will essentially be able to play two different games with Grace and Leon, with the former’s portion more akin to the horror portions of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 7, while the latter’s portion replicates the thrilling tension of Resident Evil 4.
Capcom has shared a new look at Leon’s gameplay in Requiem, which will focus on shooting and melee attacks. Leon can shoot enemies in the legs and kill them with powerful kicks.
In addition to the gun, Leon will be equipped with a battle ax that can be used to parry incoming melee attacks and deliver the finishing blow to weakened infected. He is also able to pick up weapons dropped by enemies. In the new gameplay, Leon can be seen picking up a chainsaw and slicing enemies in half.

As opposed to Leon’s bloody action games, Grace’s portion of Resident Evil Requiem will take place in a tight area. She is given limited ammo and must sneak around enemies to survive. However, Grace will gain access to a powerful revolver called the Requiem that can shoot multiple enemies at once.
Capcom is also introducing a new crafting system that will require players to use infected blood to create specialized syringes.
Players will be able to switch between first-person and third-person perspectives for Leon and Grace. The game will also offer three difficulty settings: Casual, Standard (Modern) and Standard (Classic), which will require players to use an ink ribbon to save the game.
Capcom also detailed the bundled benefits of the Resident Evil Requiem Deluxe Edition. These include additional outfits, weapon skins, and screen filters for Leon and Grace.
The company confirmed that in addition to PC, PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and Switch 2, Resident Evil Requiem will also be available for cloud gaming on GeForce Now when it launches on February 27.
