According to a report, Nintendo may release an upgraded version of the Switch next year. Nintendo’s handheld game console was released in 2017 and has received wide acclaim and huge sales. Then, in 2019, the company released a more streamlined version of the Switch, called Nintendo Switch Lite, and now it seems that the console will get a much-needed upgrade. Given that PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will be launched at the end of this year, it makes sense for the company to plan an upgraded version of its popular console.
Taiwan’s “Economic Daily” quoted supply chain sources as reporting that the Japanese company is developing a more powerful version of Nintendo Switch. It is said to bring better image quality and may be released sometime next year. Another Bloomberg report mentioned that Nintendo plans to support 4K HD graphics with more computing power in this next-generation Switch (review).
Bloomberg’s report quoted people about this strategy as saying that this upgraded version of the Switch will come with various games from Nintendo and other studios. According to the report, they range from casual experiences to marathon games.
Nintendo Switch was released in 2017. As of June 30 this year, 61.44 million units have been sold worldwide. In terms of original performance, it does not match the products offered by PlayStation 4 and Xbox One X, but this does not prevent its sales. Now, Sony and Microsoft are preparing for the next generation of game consoles, and Nintendo can do the same.
