The New York Giants have been busy during the first few hours of the NFL’s legal tampering period. The contract won’t be officially signed until Wednesday, March 11 at 4:00 PM ET, but the team is reaching out to potential free agents to see who they can sign early.
According to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, one of the players the Giants have reached an agreement with is punter Jordan Stout, which is why the team plans to part ways with punter Jamie Gillan.
Guillen spent nearly three seasons with the Cleveland Browns and spent time on the Buffalo Bills practice squad in 2021. Guillen joins the Giants in 2022. He essentially followed Brian Daboll to East Rutherford, and with Daboll’s departure the Giants’ special teams team is in trouble and it’s no surprise they plan to move on from Guillen.

In four seasons with the Giants, Guillen punted 280 times, averaging 40.5 yards per punt and reaching the end zone 19 times. His release will free up cap space to help pay for Jordan Stout’s contract.
