Redmi general manager Lu Weibing shared a new social media post, suggesting that the company is considering launching a small screen phone. As we all know, Xiaomi has received a lot of inspiration from Apple in the past, and Weibing indirectly hinted that it would launch a similar mobile phone, such as the iPhone 12 mini. Apple launched the iPhone 12 mini with iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max last week. iPhone 12 mini is the most affordable product, it is equipped with a small 5.4-inch Super Retina display.
Wei Bing confirmed through his social media posts on Weibo that Redmi also considered the possibility of producing “mini” smartphones. However, he warned that the company will have to make many compromises on battery capacity. He explained that reducing the size of the smartphone will directly mean that the battery integrated in it will also be smaller, so the battery life will be greatly reduced. The iPhone 12 mini only has a 2227mAh battery, which is proven by recent certification. The iPhone 12 has a larger frame and is reported to have a larger 2,815mAh battery.
In the post, he also shared photos of Xiaomi’s China headquarters and kept it open. The guard did not confirm whether the company is continuing to produce Redmi smartphones with small screens, even if it means that the battery is low, or whether the idea has been decided and shelved. If the company chooses the former, then more information about this Redmi “mini” phone should be disclosed as soon as possible.
According to reports, the Redmi Note 10 series is under development, and the company may bring a small screen option to the series. Of course, from our point of view, this is purely speculation, and the Redmi Note 10 series may not see any such options. A recent report indicates that the series of films may be launched sometime this month.
