Redmi has finally launched a new series of budget-centric smartphones in India. The brand’s latest phone is called the Redmi 15 and it comes with some leading features and specifications, including a massive 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery. The phone also features a premium design, Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 processor, 50MP dual rear cameras, and more. What’s more, the price of this phone is quite competitive. Redmi 15 5G price in India starts at Rs. The 6GB + 128GB option is priced at Rs 14,999. The 8GB + 128GB model is priced at Rs 15,999 and the 8GB + 256GB model is priced at Rs 15,999. 16,999. That said, I had a chance to spend some time with the device, and here’s what you need to know.
Redmi 15 5G brings some new upgrades in terms of equipment compared to its predecessor. The most eye-catching thing here is the new camera island, which the brand claims is made using aerospace-grade metal. There are three camera modules but unfortunately, one of them is an imposter as the phone comes with a dual camera setup. The phone is available in matte white, midnight black and sand purple color options. I chose the matte white option in the review and it does look premium.

The rear panel has a gradient finish, giving it a premium feel. The flat frame design is sure to be a hit as it features a comfortable grip for extended holding time. The right side houses the volume controls and power on/off button, while the USB Type-C port and speaker grille are at the bottom. The front panel features slim bezels and a punch-hole camera in the top center. Redmi 15 5G is 8.40mm thick and weighs 217 grams. Interestingly, the phone also has an IP64 rating, making it water and dust resistant.
In terms of display, the Redmi 15 5G comes with a 6.9-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 1080×2340. The phone also features an adaptive screen refresh rate of up to 144Hz, a peak brightness of up to 850nits, a touch sampling rate of up to 288Hz, and a pixel density of 374ppi. On first use, the display looks really big and nice. Outdoor brightness may be a bit mediocre, but color output seems decent.

The Redmi 15 5G is powered by the reliable Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 processor. The device also comes with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The device runs Xiaomi HyperOS 2 based on Android 15 operating system. Interestingly, the company is currently offering two years of OS upgrades and four years of security updates for the phone. While the specs look worthy of the price, we’ll talk more about that in an upcoming review.

Another highlight of the Redmi 15 5G is its impressive battery. The phone is powered by a massive 7,000mAh silicon carbon battery, which is a new technology introduced in the space. Silicon-carbon cells help reduce cell size but still allow you to package higher densities. Interestingly, the phone supports 33W fast charging and 18W reverse charging technology. It will be interesting to see how the battery performs in our stress tests.

In terms of optics, the Redmi 15 5G comes with a dual-camera setup on the rear panel, which comes with a combination of 50-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.75 aperture and an unspecified secondary sensor. The phone features an 8-megapixel camera on the front for selfies and video calls.
All in all, the Redmi 15 5G seems to be a promising device in this price segment. However, it will face stiff competition from products like Poco M7 Plus, Oppo K13x, iQOO Z10x, and others.
