Red Sox Reportedly Fill Infield Need With Former Gold Glove Winner

The Boston Red Sox have agreed to a one-year deal with infielder Isiah Keener-Falefa, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports.

MassLive’s Chris Cotillo confirmed the news Wednesday, saying the deal is worth $6 million.

Keena-Falefa, who can play second base, third base, shortstop and outfield, has excelled in recent seasons and has played for the Texas Rangers, New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates and Toronto Blue Jays since 2021.

Keena-Falefa slashed .266/.302/.356 with 10 homers, 39 doubles and 83 RBIs over the past two seasons in Pittsburgh and Toronto, appearing in six games for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2025 World Series loss.

The Red Sox suddenly have a lot of options to fill their needs at second and third base, with IKF joining the likes of Marcelo Meyer, Romy Gonzalez, Christian Campbell, Nick Sogard, David Hamilton and newly acquired Mitch Gasper, some of whom may not be available for Opening Day on March 26.

However, Boston still has work to do…
