Realme has been pursuing a quantitative strategy in the Indian smartphone market, but this is not necessarily a bad thing. A diversified product portfolio often provides consumers with more choices, which may lead to increased market share and incremental revenue growth. While the strategy is aggressive, it appears to have mostly worked to its benefit so far, with the company having a 10.6% share of the Indian smartphone market in the first quarter of 2025, up 2.2% year-on-year, according to IDC.
Following the launch of the Realme 14 Pro series in January, the company launched the Realme 14T 5G in the mid-range segment. Notably, it also became the first T-series phone to be launched in India.
Priced at Rs. The Realme 14T 5G is priced at $17,999 for the 8GB + 128GB variant and competes with rivals like the CMF Phone 2 Pro and its sibling Realme P3 5G. But does it offer any meaningful differentiation, or simply fade into the crowd of competitors? I spent some time with the device and here are my thoughts on it.
Realme 14T 5G: Packaging
Out of the box, the Realme 14T 5G looks similar to the Realme P3, until you notice the relocated LED flash. With its latest devices like the Realme 13 Pro series, Realme 14 series, and most recently the Realme 14T 5G, the brand has always emphasized on offering unique designs at affordable prices. I received the Surf Green colorway and it’s a real eye-catcher without feeling overdone. Along with the Lightning Purple and Obsidian Black color options, it stands out due to the unique look of the back panel – a silky, wavy texture that mimics the strokes of a paintbrush, adding a premium touch.

Durability is a highlight of the Realme 14T 5G, which comes with triple protection ratings: IP66 + IP68 + IP69. It protects against dust, water damage, and even high-pressure water jets—a rare feat at this price point. High-end smartphones from late 2024 and early 2025 are already rolling out with newly added IP69 ratings, and it’s great to see this highlight feature trickling down to sub-R prices. 20,000 segments.
Despite having a large 6,000mAh battery, the phone is surprisingly thin at just 7.97mm. It weighs 196 grams and has decent weight distribution, but the ergonomics could benefit from improvements and its chiseled edges are still a little too sharp and occasionally dug into our palms. Then there’s the usual hardware mix: a USB Type-C port, a hybrid SIM slot, and stereo speakers.
Realme 14T 5G: Very powerful
With quad-curved screens taking over the mid- to high-end segment, Realme has chosen to stick with its flatter, more functional display on the Realme 14T 5G. It features a 6.67-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a peak brightness of 2,100nits. It gets plenty of brightness and produces vibrant colors, and the overall performance is nearly smooth and lag-free. The screen area is also large, with a screen-to-body ratio of 92.7%, but the asymmetrical bezels may slightly affect your experience.

Realme has equipped this phone with a 6nm octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, which is said to have an AnTuTu score of over 460,000, which I will verify through comprehensive benchmarks and real-world performance tests. It also comes with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB onboard storage. Realme also supports virtual RAM expansion up to 18GB, which helps with memory-intensive tasks. Oh, and there’s expandable storage: up to 1TB via microSD card. The phone runs Realme UI 6 based on Android 15 and is promised to get two years of software updates and three years of security updates.
With artificial intelligence becoming a buzzword in recent years, the Realme 14T 5G includes several AI-powered features, although most of them appear to be camera-centric additions on the surface. AI Clear Face cleans up blurry photos and brings details into sharper focus, while AI Eraser does exactly what its name suggests, removing distracting objects from images. It also makes use of what the company calls its AI HyperRAW algorithm, which is said to provide a precise balance between light and shadow.

For the cameras, the Realme 14T 5G features dual rear camera units that include a 50-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. You also get a 16-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calls. In our initial tests, daylight shots seemed to have a good amount of detail, although slight oversaturation was sometimes observed. Even with Night Mode enabled, night photography leaves a lot to be desired.
However, there is one feature that stands out in the camera system and that is Live Photos. Like Apple’s Live Photos, it records the seconds before and after you click the shutter button, allowing you to capture the exact moment and leave a fleeting memory as it unfolds. This is a great addition and I use it often when using this device.
Despite the 6,000mAh battery, the phone still looks stylish
Finally, the Realme 14T 5G is equipped with a large 6,000mAh battery, which is consistent with the number of other recent Realme phones. The phone supports 45W fast charging and has “advanced AI battery health management” to extend battery life. It doesn’t offer any form of wireless charging; however, that’s not surprising considering its price.
Realme 14T 5G: Initial thoughts
Overall, the Realme 14T 5G seems to be a solid choice for its price of Rs. 17,999. Its eye-catching design gives it an edge and helps it stand out in a seemingly saturated mid-range smartphone segment. The upgrades to its display section and its durability are certainly impressive for the segment, although there’s room for improvement in terms of camera performance. That said, I needed to test the various claims made by the company to see if they were true.
