New Delhi: The second day of the Ranji Trophy final witnessed extraordinary scenes as Jammu and Kashmir captain Paras Dogra lost his temper and head-butted the Karnataka substitute fielder, sparking a heated argument and forcing the umpires to intervene at the Hubli Cricket Ground on Wednesday.

The flashpoint came in the 101st over of Jammu and Kashmir’s first innings when Dogra batted in a crucial partnership with Kanhaiya Wadhawan. After sending Prasidh Krishna’s delivery to the boundary, Dogra exchanged words with substitute fielder KV Aneesh, who was stationed at short leg.
As the verbal spat escalated, Dogra suddenly lunged at Aneesh and headbutted him with her helmet. The shocking act shocked players and officials alike, with Karnataka captain Mayank Agarwal quickly stepping in to defuse the situation while the umpires also rushed to restore order.
Dogra apologized at the end of the game, but Anish refused to accept it, visibly frustrated. The tension did not end there as Agarwal and KL Rahul also joined in with sharp verbal reactions to the Jammu and Kashmir skipper.
The situation is likely to worsen when Karnataka pacers Vijaykumar Vyshak and Wadhawan clashed after an accidental contact during a run. The two came face to face before referees and teammates intervened to separate them to prevent another clash.
Despite the drama, Jammu and Kashmir dominated the match. The visitors built on the solid foundation laid on day one to cross the 350-mark mark and consolidate their position.
Earlier, Shubham Pundir’s brilliant 121 put Jammu and Kashmir in control while valuable contributions from Avir Hasan (88) and Abdul Samad (61) put Karnataka at a disadvantage.
